Is there a cheaper way to fix dim halo DRL or parking lights?

My X3 has got the dreaded dim ring light. Xenon model. I've read about the $2000 BMW are charging to fix it. I can't see to find a definitive fix anywhere on the forum.

I have found a whole bunch of cheap F25 Halo Angel eye ring lights such as this one: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/232902777806

Is this an actual solution? OR just a band aid that covers the old ones?

These look completely different so I'm not sure which ones can fix the problem: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/255288817796

If it's a burnt out controller board then do these contain the controller? I'm just a tad confused and would appreciate some info if anyone knows more about the whole shemozzle. Thanks!!

If pre LCI, purchase the LED module and replace it, look the part number up on realoem.com.
The links you posted are not even close to a proper fix

Thanks. So once I've purchased the module is it an easy fix if I'm fairly comfortable with a soldering iron? Is this the fix that requires opening the entire headlight enclosure or is the module easier to get to?

Is this the part?

I was going to have mine looked at this weekend. $2000 doesn't surprise me if they have to replace the whole assembly, I'll decide if that is what they quote.

If you have pre-LCI, that's the correct part. No soldering, it's plug and play. Not sure if you can get to it without taking the headlight out of the vehicle

You're the best. That's exactly what I wanted to hear lol!

One more question; on eBay I can choose a genuine part from a parted out X3 or a Chinese made new part. Anyone tried the Chinese one? Are they any good? I'd hate to need to pull the car apart again to change the module in 6 months....
