I just had mine done - fill, powder coat, clear coat. It was a one day turnaround at the local tire/wheel shop.
I asked about machined wheels (from the pics that's what it looks like?) and he said while he can do it, it'd probably never be a perfect match. I'd recommend you shop around and see what they say - send pics, read all reviews on their Yelp entries. My guy had 100% 5 star reviews. |

I have similar damage, chipsaway quoted £180. It's per wheel no matter the extent of damage. The guy said this has to be sent to workshop as its machine cut or something.i didn't bother getting it done. Bought a diy kit off amazon haven't tried it yet may be will give a go in the summer. Assuming you didn't take wheel insurance. Did you ask the dealer, I've seen my local dealer advertising alloy wheel repair on FB.

I do have the wheel insurance....but they said it was not "cosmetic damage" so they would only contribute to the repair. My dealers have agreed to sort it.
BTW.....very easy to clean.....just apply some wheel wax and the dirt washes off easily.

Had a couple of our wheels repainted a while back (Denver, Colorado area). Was about $180 per wheel. Not quit as perfect as the original paint job but not at all noticeable unless you're anal like me. We get so many rock chips here in Colorado that it quickly becomes a mute point.

How do they repair machined wheels? Some sort of epoxy with alloy powder?

I have also had polished face wheels similar to the OPs refurbished - they were this style from our F20 and they came back looking like new If you go to a decent refurbisher such as Lepsons or Platinum in Swindon, they'd do something along the lines of - chemically strip the wheel - shotblast it - grind out the damaged area - weld in a new piece of alloy (welding alloy properly takes someone who knows what they're doing) - flatten/profile the welded area - powdercoat (undercoat, bake, topcoat, bake) - diamond cut / polish the face - Lacquer/Clear Coat but the whole job will take a few days
