They are out now really inclined to take the risk and get the velar. Tough choice with the M40i we Will see.

Looks nice but don't like the rear end treatment from the side - seems to suffer from the same visual issue as the new Discovery. Have specced one up on their website and kept it to the smallest engine etc, still came out at £62K That said I specced the new Jaguar E Pace and that came out at £49K .

Just had this month's Which consumer magazine land on the hall floor

Attached is their car guide to Britain's best and worst cars

Guess which brand is propping up the lists ?

Yup .. Land Rover ! How did you guess ?

Disco sport is listed as a "Don't buy" with a list of reported faults as long as your arm .. with an average of 8 breakdowns per car !!

They say "Major reliability issues dog this model - avoid"

Full size disco fairs not much better, again listed as "don't buy" nor do the Range Rovers

They place the new X1 in first place just ahead of the Subaru SV and F25/6 X3/4 in third place

That's the only thing that has always made me hesitate getting a Rover, Velar is the only car of the brand that I actually would disregard this for it ticks all the boxes of my next car..we will see.

The Range Rover Velar looks like a Ford Explorer to me. I prefer my 2016 X3's design

Carwow UK review...scratchy plastics anyone

Infotainment system...not better than BMW or Audi

Practicality test---claustrophobic inside, small windows, iffy center seat

I give LR credit for the two touch screens but unfortunately as the review says, unless you are stationary they will be a nightmare to use - pc plod will give you a fine and points on your license if you send a text but it totally fine to have your head near your knees trying to get the heated seat function to work in the velar..... Also greasy fingers marks a plenty!!!

Not sure on the door handles - what happens if the mechanism fails how do you get in? I wonder if they will cope with years of abuse?

This is another honest review, both the screen and digital clusters kept failing and rebooting. They show how to access when the door handles fail, being a JLR product it will fail.

In all fairness ownership of any Land Rover product is only a part time experience !

They should sell it as a timeshare ???

Which magazine in the Uk have Land Rovers as a "Don't buy" with the average car breaking down 8 times over two years

My BMW might not be as blingy ., but it's never broken down !

I had a Freelander 2, fine for the first year then went back to the dealers 6 times over the final 2 years, most often for week long visits, had to have the haldex unit replaced and then six months later the replacement one had to be replaced , rear diff replaced, various other faults, not bad for a '4x4xfar' Landrover product that had never been offroad and covered only 35000 miles in 3 years...

It has a nice interior - the seats are quite comfortable and i did like the material and how they feel when sitting for a long period of time...The sun roof adds a lot to the Velar. Did not like the dashboard.

I wouldn't run away so quickly. If you actually watch the video it is just a check engine light which could be hundreds to thousands of possible issue from a blown fuse to something major. I just got my D300 Velar having come from the X3 28i which I had for 4 1/2 years and 74k miles and all I can say is the build quality and materials is beyond what BMW offers at least from a 2017 or even 2013 BMW X3. Yes BMW offers more in terms of Idrive system and what Idrive can do feature wise but Land Rover's incontrol system is 90% of what Idrive is. Yes I do miss some features that BMW's have but I love the Velar because its so luxurious and comfortable and rides a whole lot better than my X3 did and doesn't creak or rattle like my x3 did.
