Did they really name this thing VELAR?
Those of us who deal with the human vocal cavity know the word velar as the adjective form of velum, the back part of the roof of the mouth! What a terrible name for a car! Unless you are into that sort of thing, I guess.

Jaguar Land Rover is owned by Tata Motors which was purchased from Ford in 2008. The fact that they have been pieces of shit for quite some time now is an understatement.

Ok I understand now. Jesus Christ $49k for a base Range Rover Velar that has a 2.0T Ford Ecoboost engine in it. LOL |

I agree that Tata Motors - Jaguar and Land Rover - has had a lot of quality issues, but I don't agree on "pieces of shit", because they are, slowly, converting to all aluminium high-tech architectures - body and chassis - with very good handling and low weight. F-Pace is an exampel of that.
I am waiting for E-Pace, X2 and XC60 to come out with e-AWD - front petrol engine -within 3 years or so. |

It's undoubtedly hot but cost an absolute fortune. The entry level model without the cool headlights, bumper or alloys cost as much as a 6 cylinder Cayenne, X5 or Q7.
Basic trim is less impressive:

Tough crowd here! Velar is such a stupid name, I agree. The base model looks like a Ford from infront. Truth be told if these cars were reliable, I would buy one in a heartbeat, otherwise I look at them from the stands.

I personally find the Velar absolutely beautiful and love its simplicity. However, a well equipped Velar will get you into X5 category for pricing and comparison
