Garage List
2015 BMW X3 28i  [0.00]
2011 BMW 135i  [0.00]
2016 BMW M3  [0.00]
MY 14 starts in April

Looks like there are several changes to the option packages. Sport pkg gone for 28, new lighting pkg, rear view cam now in assistance pkg, heads up display included in tech pkg, might want to get your orders in soon for those 13s depending on your configuration. The complete info is posted in the ask a dealer section of bimmerfest.

Anyone know if there will be exterior changes? Looks like the wheels are the same.

I REALLY wish BMW would let people order cars equipped exactly the way they want them (not counting conflicting options, of course.) I thought computerized manufacturing was predicted to make things like that easy to do. I shouldn't have to buy multiple things I don't want just to get an item I do want, particularly when they're not related in any way. In my opinion, this was the least satisfying aspect of my recent purchase. The GMC truck I bought in 2000 was more customizable via the ordering process than this 2013 BMW, and that's a shame.

Can I get a link to the ask dealer thread please.
I was looking at a X3 M without leather so need to see if I might end up paying more.

Hey, surely you didn’t expect the ‘computerised manufacturing’ (or spec order selection) to be there for your benefit? — its more for BMW’s use rather than yours as it allows them to more easily determine what and where to offer particular options and at what price, or combinations of options in a package depending on that particular market in order to maximise profits for the company – you are a secondary consideration.

A case in point—in the UK where metallic paint is the norm for most cars, it is an equivalent US $980 option (2012 pricing excluding 20% local taxes); however, in a market such as S. Africa, where a non-metallic colour such as Alpine White is a popular colour and probably accounts for 40% of cars sold, metallic is only a $420 add-on; that is 57% LESS than UK. However, in S. Africa, where a panorama sunroof is likely high on the customers’ option list compared with UK because of a better/warmer climate, it costs about 20% MORE than the UK.

Its where the profits come from – so if the uptake on an option is low it makes sense not to over-price it, but if demand is strong, lets make the bucks. At the end of the day, that philosophy also determines which items are included in the various packages and also accounts for the alterations and changes in selected packages and individual options on offer.

The diesel should come in 2014 for the x3 so it may be MY2015.

Well, in here we must order without any packages. Usually only package is "business", which covers standard options such as Xenon lights, light package and so on.

All other extras can be ordered individually, unless there is a conflicting extras.

Oh, and M package of course is available.

I guess it depends on how the marketing people see which is the best thing to do. My car was build to order, not bulky, but the delivery took 6 months!

Cheap cars like Opels and Toyotas have packages so they can make them bulky and deliver to sellers yard. Then seller just sells car from the yard, no delivery time.

To me it feels good to have "bespoke" car rather than bulky

hmmf, auto dimming mirrors... the side mirrors don't dim worth a damn so it isn't much of a "feature".

No disagreement here. I just hope that we don't get a 40+k vehicle, base.

Considering that the 2014 X3 will be in production in April, does anybody think there will be heavy incentives for the 2013 X3 soon or some sort of model year end sale?

MY 2014 X3 Pricing

Received the attached yesterday. Looks like base MSRP is up slightly and some of the option packages have changed a bit. The M-Sport is still offered on the 28i which I had heard might disappear.

Thanks for posting! The pricing works out about the same as 2013 for the configuration I am considering, but I agree the packages make more sense now. Just need to figure out if I really need 6NS and the rear window shades which are now a $250 option.

+1

Yep, throwing in something that does not work isn't much of a feature.
