Passenger auto dimming mirror
Hey guys my dad just picked up a 2017 X4 28i With every option. We just noticed that only one of the outside mirrors dim? Cost cutting at its finest
So my question is, would it be possible to for a 2016 X4 passenger mirror in its place and still have the auto dim ability? Would I need to replace the entire mirror housing or just the glass? Coming from other bmws with both sides dimming this was pretty disappointing on a 70k suv. Thanks for your help |

I know older cars (E90 3series) even if they didn't have the dimming side mirrors, they had the canbus lines there already. I assume no canbus there anymore?
If thats the case... very sad.. and stupid I know the mirror housing has its own wiring harness that plugs into the motor and the glass. Is the mirror housing whats missing the wires? Or is it missing at the connector the mirror itself fits into when attaching to the door? |

I have also dimming on both, I believe this was changed in 2015 or 2016 due to some kind of rules somewhere. It's the same on all BMWs.
