something seems wrong

Tjalle you said the dealer charge you 2 hrs of labor for the exhaust right? I got charge with $800 labor. $700 after discount as car club member.

The installation instructions had two installation times - two hours and three hours - not to be added. I checked - have installation manual. Dealer charged me two hours=$300. Dealer also gave me 15% discount on official price of system.

I painted the two plastic trimparts myself.

$800/700 is a steal. Ask them to show installation manual - is in their system.

I just ordered the MPE for my '16 X4 35i and the dealer quoted me $300 CAD + tax for the installation, but it's the BMW bodyshop not the mechanic garage performing the work (did I get a really good deal?!?)

...really hoping it fills the gap a little to the M40i

Quick question Tjalle or chentw, does the bluetooth remove fit inside the 12v plug between the cup holders, if not where do you guys keep it?

OK deal.

I hang the transmitter on gearlever.

40i has artificial sound from speakers. Exterior sound is better/higher/cleaner than 40i in Track.

Interior sound is not as pronounced even in Track - it's tough to compete with speakers.

Looks are outstanding . You wan't regret!

Sorry, Tjalle but the X4 M40i most certainly does not have "artificial sound from the speakers." The module simply isn't present in the car.

It is my understanding that BMW mostly put this feature in cars with smaller, laming sounding motors. Even though these motors pack an impressive punch, the sound isn't very powerful.

I agree, I spent close to an hour trying to find the part numbers with a buddy who works as a BMW tech. All the other F-series seem to have it, except the F25/F26.

I got, in a private mail, a question from a Canadian, who has the "MPE". I thought it might be of interest also for others.

He does not tell if comfort opening. I have comfort opening.

His problem is that system "cuts off" - i.e. goes to Sport (from Track) and control light goes dead. He can re-activate.

Question is: have I encountered same problem? Answer is no, but it goes off with ignition off.

One possibel problem could be battery (CR 2032) in MPE transmitter

If no resolution, I recommend to contact Red Arch Manufacturing Ltd UK in the UK, who manufactures the system.

Hi Tjalle,

I'm the lucky Canadian! Well, since I wrote you, I went back to the dealer and they ended up replacing the *entire* system, muffler, control module, remote, everything since the parts cannot be ordered separately.

Sadly, the new replacement MPE does the same thing. But, I'm starting to get ideas or maybe just making excuses.. I've noticed that as soon as the battery is removed from the remote, the MPE closes, meaning it requires a constant bluetooth link to the remote.. as soon as it's lost, the flaps close. In a *dense* busy urban environment, with so much RF interference I might understand this, however i also noticed it generally does this more often within the first 5-10 minutes the car is running, after that it seems to be a lot more reliable. Is it RF interference, or maybe an issue with the fusebox fluctuating voltage? Is it a design flaw with the electronics module, or maybe an issue with my cars electrical system? Who knows.. I'm chalking it off to bad bluetooth implementation design (requiring a constant signal) and my living downtown Montreal.

Anywho, this thing is badass regardless... it completely transforms the 35i.

Any particular contact @ Red Arch Manufacturing Ltd UK I should reach out to?

Hi, nice picture!

You might be right - "bad" environment - might kill signal. Living on an island we don´t have that.

Any chance of leaving Montreal?

You just send them an e- mail, and they will sort it out - not a big firm.

Since exhaust systems are - once again - being discussed - here is an extensive discussion with soundclips.
