Rooftop Rails = Bird Perch

It's amazing how many bird droppings I've had to clean off my windows in he less than 2 months I've had my new X3 - and I recently discovered why... For some reason, birds love to perch on my roof rails and then proceed to do their #2 down onto my windows. It's so annoying and I don't know why I didn't have this issue with my 2009 X3 roof rails. I've thought about lining the area with arsenic but I figure I'd get in trouble for that. (Just kidding, of course.) That being said, as careful as I've been to sponge that stuff off, I think I gave myself a few very light surface scratches. I guess I thought the dropping was moist enough to sponge off. Arrgh..

I thought I'd share my dislike for the birds in my area... lol

Odd! That has to be so annoying... Especially after detailing your ride and then getting crapped on!

Try throwing some rubber snakes up there. I don't know if it's a myth but I was told birds are scared of them. Birds are stupid.

What's the colour of your car? I find birds like to do their stuff on dark cars. I park my car indoors daily so birds haven't had much opportunity, but I'm in your general area.

It's a Deep Sea Blue - so your dark car theory works. LOL

If I could electrify the rails, that would be cool. Believe it or not, I thought about. Another thing I thought of is putting those spikes on the rails like they do on top of things they won't want pigeons to land, but that didn't seem feasible.

Snakes - I never thought of. haha

I haven't had anything for almost a week now, which is new. fingers crossed!!

ya could tie a cat to the roof.

It would solve the bird problem.
