Rear hatch closing hard

Seems like my hatch closes rather abrubtly and with a resounding 'thud'. I only close it by pushing the button on the hatch so it closes by itself. It's almost like you slammed the hatch down by hand. Without going back to the dealer to try other X3's, is this normal? I don't believe it's adjustable thru idrive. Only the height.

Not normal. Our trunk closes so slowly, I don't even wait with a quiet lock.

It could be that BMW derives the amount of force, with which the hatch closes, via an input from the operator's current state of mind. Perhaps you were upset at the times you have employed this function.
Try doing this when you are in a really mellow mood, maybe after having sucker punched a politician, and you may get a better result. Even if the result does not change, it is still a good day. Smiles, (I don't know how to put in a smiley face) sam
