Odd Fog Light...

Was defrosting my wife's X3 this morning (such a nice chap ) and noticed only the front right fog-light was on.

The light selector was on auto-lights so naturally came on as it was a little dark but one fog light was also on which seems stranges for two reasons a) why was a fog light on anyway and b) why only one.

When I hit the front fog light button the left one turned on (so now both on) but when I hit the button again only the left one turned off (leaving the right one on).

Only had the car a week but can't understand why this would be a 'feature' so guessing it's an electrical fault.

The indicator stalk was in the middle (sometime the side-lights can stay are can't they if an indicator is left on).

Any thoughts?? It only happened this morning but will check again tomorrow - might just be one of those things.

Were your front wheels turned to the right?

The fog lamps also act as cornering lamps. So, when your lights are on and you turn the steering wheel to one side, the fog lamp will illuminate on that same side.

Oh, both cornering lamps (fog lights) will illuminate when the car is in reverse (with the headlamps on).

It is odd behavior until you get used to it.

Good luck with your new set of wheels.

^ Correct, and they even work while turning when the high beams are turned-on.

Adaptive lighting w/out question!
