hand brake problem!!!
Hi Guys
X3 2006 2,0 d The ratchet on my hand brake is worn on the sixth to the eighth tooth, and the brake isn't tight enough to hold the car on the fifth click up. If the level is pulled up past the eight tooth the brake is fine and will hold the car on any slope. How do i go about tighten the cable so the lever will only travel to the fifth click and hold the car ? Somebody menstioned two nuts under the level but i've not got any i think its self adjusting? |

On other cars I have owned the handbrake is self adjusting. Drive the car in reverse and use the handbrake to stop it - i drive slow and yank the handbrake a few times as you slow down. This should adjust it. Not sure on the X3 though.
