Upgrade M-sport 19" to 20" M double spoke 310 wheels costs AU$8,870 (~US$9,253)?!
I ordered 2013 X3 with M-sport couple weeks ago. Now that I ask the dealer if I can upgrade the M-sport 19" wheels to 20" M double spoke 310 wheels and tires? The dealer said this is a dealer fit accessary option and referred me to accessaries department.
The accessary department came back and said it would cost AU$8,870 including the fitting, balance and alignment, which is equivalently to ~US$9,253. I asked what if I bought the set instead of trade-in the 19" that comes with the M-sport package, the price is AU$11,970, which is 1/7 the cost of the car!! I found that BWM USA is selling it at US$5,995 (http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...cessories.aspx), BMW at UK is selling it at $4,450 Pound (~US$6,756), http://www.bmw.co.uk/en/topics/owner...ryId=5079.html. These are the prices for new set, not trade-in. I'm not sure why the same one in Australia costs so much, almost double?! What do you think? Anyone have done a similar upgrade or purchase of this 310 wheels? Any suggestions of what I can do? |

Purchase used from a trustworthy member on this forum.
I thought about the 310's but honestly that pricing is disgusting to me. $6k for wheels/tires that are nothing special other than design, with no opportunity to get credit for the wheels/tires on the car. Maybe if they gave you a $3k credit or something for your wheels, it'd be enticing...but I need to pay $6k, then deal with selling the other set myself...all for OEM wheels? Forget it. I found this wheel pricing to be offensive, and frankly the more I looked at cars with them, I didn't really like the stance (sits a little higher it seems). |

You are going to want to eat a gun when you see the asking price of 310's here:

Can someone explain why the upgrade charges are so high.. Factory fit upgrade on my car from new from 304 17" to 309 19" is £1500. Do 19" tyres and wheels cost that much more?

That is bull fing sht man, what an insulting rip off. It would be better to stay with the 19s and save yourself 6k.

Wheel pricing is very much a dark art it seems - someone in BMW has a fun time making up the numbers....
