Comfort Access Question in 2016 X3

Hello,

For all the owners with comfort access, doesn't it bother you that it isn't on all of the door handles? I had it on my 2013 535i and I find it frustrating that it isn't the same on this car.

Doesn't bother me. I usually pass through the driver's door to go to the rear anyway, so I just slide a finger through the handle... If I'm coming from the rear, the front handle is in arms reach anyway, so I just stretch a bit and slide my hand on the front handles...

And it's not like I have to do this everyday anyway.

Thanks. Yea normally I wouldn't mind as much but now with a 6 month old baby sometimes I am lugging around a car seat or stroller and diaper bag and other things. So the lack of comfort access in the rear doors already impacted me a few times to the point where I needed to vent about it on a forum lol . I will obviously have to adjust now.

also was pointing out that a previous car had it on all doors, and this one does not.

Yes it is on my 2014 x5 but not on my 2013 x3.

I get my new 2016 x3 this Friday, now I know the rears are without.

I am more bothered not having Garage Door Opener as I skipped Exec that has Universal Garage Door ( no need for LED, lumbar high beam assist).

This is the reason we didn't get comfort access back in 2011. Disappointed BMW haven't extended it to the rear doors since then. When we have kids or dogs, 9 times out of 10 its the rear doors that require opening first. And to be honest even though we have it somewhat ironically on our second car (a Volvo), don't miss it on the X3.

Yep. Annoying.

Also just as annoying is the fact that unlocking a door via the door handle doesn't automatically unlock all of the doors.

You can change this, go to "Settings" on iDrive, then "Doors/Key" it should give you the option to unlock Drivers Door Only, or All Doors.

Its one of the first things I changed when I set up my '16 X3

Sorry for breaking the bad news about no comfort access in the rear doors, but congrats on the new X3!

Thanks Drewxnyc, no worries, as I didn't expect it, it would have been a nice surprise though. I pick it up Friday, going from I6 to v4. Keeping costs down.

It will have DA+ and ACC, which is also on my x5. Sales mgr says on x5 it will bring car to complete stop whereas x3 will only slow it down. I asked the option prices are similar, and its only software so why the difference. He suggested maybe BMW wants to differentiate the x3 from the x5. Not sure if he is correct wrt to the full stop issue, hopefully not. Anyhow when I added DA+, he said that was a good addition. I always pony up for the safety stuff, can't hurt.

Funny you posted this. I'm on the same boat. My f10 has comfort access on all doors. Since my f10 is in the shop, they gave me a x3 with comfort access and I find myself yanking on the rear door thinking that I can unlock the rear doors the same way. If find it somewhat annoying but I think I'm just used to my f10.

haha yea slowly I am getting used to it, but I agree it is annoying that they wouldn't have put comfort access handles on the rear doors.

Not sure how long you will be driving it but what do you think of the X3 so far?

Ive had this loaner X3 for over 5 days (thats how long my 535 has been in the shop for) and to tell you the truth the latest generation is quite impressive both inside and out. I do feel its a bit lacking in luxury and comfort than the 535 but its nothing to cry about.

Hope everything is ok with the 5 series, but yea I agree with you on the luxury part - they definitely went a little cheap or cut some corners on a few things, but comfort wise I am actually ok.

Just reading some of your post and realized you also came from an F10. I might be on the same boat as you soon if I can get a good deal on the trade in for the 535

I traded in my F10 6 months ago and get a pretty good deal, my car is still at the dealer's lot, they have not sold it in six mouths. Here in the Northeast, there is a lot of used F10 available, even more than the 3 series the last time I check. I am not sure if that will affect the resale value.
