Halogen to LED DRL Conversion

I did not like the dim and dated appearance of the factory halogen DRLs but I believe DRLs are important for safety. So I shut off the DRL function in settings and then here is what I did:
1. I removed the w5w parking light and socket from the high beam housing and replaced it with a T10 LED bulb and new rubber socket. The original w5w parking lights are redundant with the amber ones on the corners. I left the w5w bulb in their sockets to avoid a parking light malfunction warning.
2. I supplied power to the new lights with an ignition-switched positive wire run from an add-a-fuse behind the glovebox and a negative wire run to the large ground terminal under the hood.
3. In order to shut off the DRLs at night, I added a 5 pin relay and spliced its coil to one of the low beams. So when the headlights come on the relay is energized and cuts power to the DRLs.

This project cost about $50, required drilling a few small holes in the rear of the headlight housings, which I sealed. The project took a few hours but I am pleased with the results.
