I just noticed this....

Does anyone else find it interesting that the BMW Fuel System Cleaner Plus bottle is shaped exactly like a bottle of Techron? You can buy 3 bottles of Techron at Walmart for the price of 1 "BMW Fuel System Cleaner Plus". Gotta love it....

Yep, noticed this some # of years ago.

Keep it in mind when looking for oil for the car, if having "BMW approved" oil really makes a difference or if there are plenty of good and possibly identical solutions without that wording on the bottle.

All BMW (and likely other brands) liquids aren't made by BMW.

The current oil contract is with shell, used to be with Castrol for example.

Bmw, at least in Canada, intentionally limit that. You can't buy a LL01 FE oil here apart from at the dealer. You can find plenty of LL01 oils but since rolling out the FE spec they keep that one limited.

That said, Porsche API and other specs are fine substitutes for the aging LL01
