just got my 2016 x3 x35i - the good the bad

Just took delivery of my 2016 x3 x35i. Few months back got a 2015 335i. Same packages with both - cold weather, assistance plus, premium, tech.

To compare some good things some bad:

No accessory power underneath the glove box in my f25. That sucks! Why is it not there!

f25 put the door lock buttons on the door, instead of one central. Like that, although i am pretty used to the single central button.

No steering wheel heating de/activated indicator in the instrument cluster on the f25. This sucks too.
the f30 has a brief message indicating de/activated on the instrument cluster when activated. my last 2013 f30 didn't have that message either.

No direction indicator on the mirror in the f25. Sucks! you do have an option to pick compass in the instrument cluster. but why get rid of the rear view mirror one?

the little storage compartment on the left hand side beside the steering wheel is back. i like that little compartment. 2013 f30 had it. 2015 doesn't, the assistance plus stuff is in it's place.

instrument cluster information, like distance to destination, fuel consumption etc. has moved to inside the speedometer. I think it was better in the center... less cluttered. also now the compass is an option so u actually lose a displayed option if u want the compass (as opposed to the direction that used to be in mirror as i previously whined about lol)

so there you go, that's my quick run down for now. only day 1 with it, so i'm sure there's more to come.

maybe i'm missing something with my gripes, appreciate any input.

Yes, I agree, I would rather they are called likes and dislikes and not good and bad.

Strong agreement on the steering wheel heater message. I've seen it on loaner F30s and it's great. Now I have to crane my head under the wheel to see if the hidden little yellow light is on.

On the instrument cluster, I like everything as part of the gauges (tech package), actually. With that said, it does feel cheap of them to remove the compass from the rear view mirror in the F25.

yup ,had the tech in all my bimmers....it's a definite must have for me.

it's just odd the little things that are changed. i just can't imagine how it would really affect bmw's bottom line by not including the 12v accessory under the glove box.

my very first bimmer....2010 i think it was...328....had these awesome cup holders...they were kind of in the dashboard...you push in/they pop out. it was a great idea....freed up space in the center console. haven't seen them in the 3 series anyways since then.

Cupholders are dictated from the US - must be able to carry buckets of coke - i.e no dash installation.

I couldn't agree more about the heater steering wheel button. It's impossible to see the indicator while driving as you have to either contort yourself or turn the steering wheel to see it. Seems like a Kia-grade solution on a BMW. Makes it feel like an afterthought rather than an integrated feature. Now, having said all that, it is still an amazing thing to have on a cold winter day!

In the US you can order the X3 with Driving Assistant Plus and the heated steering wheel in the Cold Weather Package. My X3 has both.

Yes +1. Who needs a light when you feel it is very warm. Anyway, I always switch it on just after I have started the car on a cold morning.

I might have been to hasty in my assumption.
Do you also have M Sport?
I tried to configure both an X3 and X4 with all three options but as soon as I added M sport package (with M Sport steering wheel), the heated steering wheel option had to be removed.

I do not have the M Sport package on my X3, but do have the xLine package.

I found another thread from a few years ago which appeared to conclude the heated steering wheel was not available on the X3 M Sport with Driving Assistant.

Ahh yes, maybe with the m steering wheel the heated option is not available?

They used to have this option pre-LCI i remember but when I got my 2016,I also couldn't get the heated m steering, which I had in my 2013 non m sport. I thought I would miss it, but honestly, the leather is better than the regular standard steering and therefore it doesn't get too cold.
