harsh downshift when coming to a stop

I recently noticed that my 2012 X3 35i with 111,000 miles is having harsh downshift when coming to a stop, im thinking it's from 2nd to 1st gear. Other than that it's smooth as butter. recently I had transmission fluid done, but even before that it was doing the same thing. I had a leak, hence the reason I had it fixed. Any ideas what could be causing it?

My personal take would be to reset transfer case and transmission adaptations. Also, change transfer case fluid incase you haven't. (Unless you dont have one)

I was having the exact same issue. I was also have issue with 1st - 3rd in traffic. Almost as if the transmission wasn’t sure what gear to choose. I did a throttle adaptation reset and the problem completely disappeared

This happened to my daughter's 2013 328i. She said it felt like a very harsh downshift when coming to a stop; almost like she was rear ended. The car was under a CPO warranty at the time and a code was brought up referencing a transmission accumulator valve issue. It was replaced and the car was fine.

I reset adaptation but I still feel the harsh downshift when coming to a stop or slowing down, its during 3rd gear to 2nd gear when it feels like someone hit you from behind..everything else is fine..any other ideas?

dang it, I don't have warranty anymore, I guess I need to take it in to have the dealer scan for codes and see what is going on. I love the car but Tesla is really catching my eye lately, I see they everywhere here in Phoenix, plus have few friends that got it and they love it...decisions decisions..

Try using one of the BMW scan tools and read transmission adaptation values. Plenty of posts show the acceptable values. Check if any of those A,B,C,D,E values is really out of range - this will point to particular clutch issue.

I check those for my car about once a month to see their change dynamics - this may point to onset of transmission issues.
