Drivetrian Malfunction Warning - 2013 6 cylinder

Recently got the "Drivetrian Malfunction Warning" on my 2013 X3 (6 cylinder). I was able to drive home and park my vehicle.

At first I thought it was a misfire cause by a bad spark plug,coil-pack, or injectors. I actually did the spark plug service last year, so that was not the reason.

Left the car overnight in my garage. Started it up the next day and everything seemed fine, dove it a couple times around the block, everything seems fine even the code went away.

I still took it in for service, my dealership is about 10 minutes away so why not right

I was advised it could be one of the following errors:

• 102002 – Air mass, plausibility: Air mass too low
• 120308 – Charging pressure control, plausibility: Pressure too low
• 133B04 – Valvetronic system: No adjustment possible

The first two errors were weeded out.they determined that there is an issue with the Valvetronic motor

My two options were to replace the Valvetronic Motor (cost $1300) or reprogram the DME (cost $250).
My service advisor advised me to reprogram the DME and if the problem persists then I will have to replace the Valvetronic component.

Current Cost: $250

This is the actual service bulletin. If you do run into this problem, dont stress yourself out, get the error code checked out, the cause can be anything from bad fuel to the valvetronic motor in my cause.

oh a whim did you get your car services recently ?

I had the 2 errors pop up because they accidentally swapped two pipes near the valve cover.

I did have a service done, but it was pads and an oil change. Been driving for 2 days now, nothing has popped up back. Everything seems to be running fine.

Did you do only reprogram the DME or replaced the Valvetronic Motor too?
