I sent a letter to BMW corporate today. Not happy. I did put down a deposit at both dealerships (I got the first one back before I cancelled that order).

Thanks! Amazingly they said they don't know why neither of the two dealers ever put the order in. Too bad it took so much frustration that I had to write a long letter about it. But I am very happy to finally be moving forward toward getting the car. Production should start in early August or earlier.

Congrats PW. Now your anticipation will really spike when you start calling the 800# to check the status and you start seeing changes on MyBMW (which all agree are both somewhat delayed).

Hopefully the dealer that BMWNA assigned the order to will take care of you going forward. Is it one of the ones that failed to place the order on your behalf or a completely new one?

It is the same no. 2 dealer I've been dealing with since early May. Interestingly, they haven't notified me of the production number that corporate gave me yet. Baby steps.

I got TWO stickers this time!! Premium sound is on it and I added the power tailgate and everything is COMPLETE! Drove off the lot with 2 miles on it. Gave them back my original baby with 2,500 miles (after taking a trip to Pittsburgh with it). It feels good to finally have my "real" X3!

After reading this thread, I am starting to worry about my order. My SA has not provided me with a production number or a order acceptance sheet since I place my order on 7/22. Now I wish I had read this thread before hand.

I sent several emails to the SA and haven't heard anything back. At the time of placing the order, he said it should take about 3-5 weeks for delivery. I know it might be too soon to panic but I really don't want to wait for a month and then find out I have to go to another dealer and start the whole process again. Does anyone know if the BMW NA 800# can find out if the dealer has entered my order into the system or order status with just my name?

Go above your CA's head to the sales manager or general manager to get answers. The 800# won't do you any good without a production number or VIN #.

I ordered mine on the same day and also haven't heard anything, (other than taking my deposit). Not sure if that should make you feel better or worse?

Well kinda...hehe. I didn't put down deposit. Although I did sign a document stating that in case I cancel my order, they reserve the right to keep the deposit until they sell the car. So I am not sure if they just forgot about it. I figured it's their job to take my money, so I didn't ask. I am going to follow up again today.

Finally got my production # today. Called the 800 number. No confirmed production yet. Although my SA said it's scheduled for August. Now I feel a bit better....

I'm surprised they didn't take a deposit. Mine required a $1000 deposit. Mexxdude, make sure they email you the .pdf on their actual order and go over it with a fine tooth comb. I missed the fact my CA put Sienna Wood instead of Wave Wood. Luckily she was able to grab another car prior to go into production so I'm delayed by a week only.

I was also surprised about no deposit. Maybe because I am paying cash? Either way I will have to pay up sooner or later.

I read the Vehicle Inquiry Report at least 5 times. lol. Everything checked out. Now I can hardly wait for my X3 to come!!!

Sorry I haven't been on this forum in a while. The car is done and waiting at the dealership, and I pick it up next weekend! I could have it already if I hadn't been on vacation this weekend. So it goes.

my order required a 1000 non refundable deposit, however i've been told under Maryland law the non-refundable piece is nearly impossible to enforce. whatever, I'm not cancelling.

Can anyone tell me what to expect in delays on mybmw.com website? X3 was ordered 9 days ago - there is no update on there, the color isn't even up to date yet (apparently the build slot had a standard vehicle spec for dealer lot pending my order)

My client advisor emailed me the order sheet w/ the correct order # and specs, so I'm sure its just mybmw.com thats just out of date. My build slot is i beleive actually the 2nd week of sept.

Sounds like nothing's changed since I got my 2002 330xi. Color didn't change until it was built.
