Washing the car yesterday, discovered a small nail on the very edge of the offside front. No tyre pressure loss, so i will leave it there for today, and remove it tommorow just in case i need a new tyre. I can't remember which forum member said rft's are more prone to picking up punctures/debris, but i think he is RIGHT!
This is my second nail in 8 weeks of ownership. I can't remember a time in my driving history (33 years) that i have had such an issue. I really need to consider the ride/road noise/puncture frequency/cost over regular 19" tyres. #miffed |

It was me.
As I said, in the last 250,000 miles I have had run flats on for only 10k of those miles and had 5 flats on them. Just not the flex to stop things piercing them imho. My old man had 3 in the space of a year before he decided to swap to normal tyres. Not had more than one flat in the previous 40 years of driving and not had another one since either. £460 for Pirelli P Zero Nero All Seasons all round, 275.40.19 and 245.45.19s of a seller on eBay. Edit: I should just add, only one of those was not repairable to be fair. |

Yes gizzE, it was indeed you. I think the decision to swap has more or less been made now. I will buy the BMW mobility kit (gunk + inflator) for the car and spare set in due course.
Is there a market for 2nd hand runflats with 6mm tread? That will at least offset the cost of going the non rft route in the coming weeks. |

Yeah they sell well.
So many people have flats that they are always looking for a spare one, and with you having to get the tread depth within 2mm on an AWD so you don't wind the diff up or transfer case it is often better to buy a used one than new. Posted this in another thread.... This guy will do you 2 rears and 2 fronts for £460 if you PM him. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2712284950...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2712284947...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Last edited by gIzzE; 03-20-2016 at 10:42 AM.. |

After 32000 miles with runflats the time has come to change them, never had an issue with them so opted to replace them with like for like, local BMW dealer will supply and fit them, valet the car and give me a loan car for the day whilst they do it - all for the sum of £195 per tyre, A replacement tyre on my last car (a Freelander 2) was £225 so well happy with the price.

Which dealer was this? I am on 19" staggered! What tyre sizes and make have you had fitted? Presumably the same size tyre all round, because you quote same price for each tyre? |

Fair point Peter. I havn't changed anything yet, so let's see how i feel in a couple of weeks. The hassle/cost of changing over is a factor.
I may even wait until the originals wear out. #undecided |

I get a flat about every 6 years - RF are no different - but always get one in the first 1000miles on every car!! - managed 120 miles on the i3!!!
The RF we have on the X3 seem fine and will be replacing them with the dealer who does a local price match offer (and a loaner) so well happy with that.

Well my x3 needs all 4 tyres replacing at 17k, it'll be runflats again as I've used them for years and had 2 punctures that I can remember and both were repaired.
Car came with pzeros (staggered 19's) so not sure whether to try another brand as I'm replacing all 4 |

For example: We took the i3 out for a test drive when it was launched and liked it. We decided to have another look last year so had 2 test drives of the i3 BEV & i3REX over 2 consecutive weekends, then had an i8 for a weekend (OMG!)... then my wife had an i3 BEV for 3 days to use for work before we finally decided to get one..but an no time did we feel an pressure, the opposite actually they really did want us to "need" the car.

They might have wanted to charge me more but at least I can carry on with my day in a loaner rather than sitting on a plastic chair drinking rancid coffee in one of those tyre shops...
