New order placed

Hey guys,

I'm a very satisfied e90 owner on the other forum, but I always help out my parents whenever they buy new cars. She had an 06 Rx400h, and we we cross-shopped the new Rx as well as some audis (Already have a Q5 in the family, don't want another), she really liked the X3, as did I, even after being put off by the appearance in the early photos of the car.

Here are some of the options we're ordering. She's meeting with the salesman tomorrow or Saturday.
xdrive28i
dsb metallic
oyster nevada
brushed alum
convenience pkg
premium pkg
technology pkg
msport pkg
heated front seats (ind. option)
sat. radio (ind. option)

Couple of questions. First, dealer has knocked 1% off MSRP. Is this decent? As we are ordering a 2012, I figure their room for negotiating is very slim. Hopefully we can at least get some floormats thrown in or something.

Second, we just talked about "premium sound." Anyone have it and is it any good? I have the "business" sound (mid-level) on my e90 and it sounds fine, its another some 900 bucks, I don't think its worth imo, but anyone have any reviews?

Third, the oyster leather is supposedly difficult to keep clean, especially with lots of people with jeans riding in the car. Has anyone gotten the dealer "protection/coating," whatever? Is there a cheaper, alternative treatment that will keep this leather clean?

Thanks, I'm so happy to have another Bavarian in the family!

EDIT: Dealer is Baron BMW in Merriam, Kansas

I will comment on the premium sound system. Normally I would have passed on the expense, however the X3 that the dealer had on the floor and the one I fell in love with had the premium sound system. Now that I have it, and in my opinion is a must. It is awesome and well worth the expense.

You can do alot better than that! You want to work off of invoice. $500 over invoice is a good deal. There is approx 8% between MSRP and invoice pricing. Work them hard!! LOL

Thanks for the input guys, I campaigned hard for DSB and Msport, and I think the oyster will look great from looking at all the pictures on the forum! I wish I could be at the dealer during the buying process, but my parents aren't the master negotiate that you guys are. I'll let her know and hopefully she can finagle a better deal!

Hey another question, If we order Msport and cold weather, will we have a heated steering wheel? Since it's the upgraded Msport wheel, I don't know if its heated, and the ca doesn't know either. Any ideas?

Car is a 2012, delivery date is late October
