F25 2013 usb music not working

I have been trying to download music from a fat 32 thumb drive with no luck. The car doesn't even see the drive. Yes the usb in the glove box. Any ideas?

- stick format must be in fat32
- music mp3 or wav. (can't recall if flac are working)

On my 13' f25 I can play any mp3 bitrate.

On My e90, only 265kbps max @ a constant bit rate. vbr are not working. (maybe you have an older decoder just like my 08' e90?)

My usb is in the armrest, not the glovebox, to play music off of it...

I have not uploaded music from a thumb drive, but uploading maps from a thumb drive is done through the armrest usb port.

Just bought the car from my son, A 2013 x3 n55 m sport with 28,000 miles on it. I have had luck downloading cds to the drive but I had a thumb drive (32gb) that I use on my pontoon that I wanted to add and it won't see it. I have been using the usb in the glove compartment which is what I understand to be the one to use. Maybe the usb is bad?

if you have it, use the USB port in the armrest storage area...
