Question Rearseat heater vents

Occasionally I find myself in the backseat of my X3. last night was i was driven home by my wife and daughter and wanted to adjust the rear heater only to find that it was not lightened up like the rest of the car. is this how its supposed to be? I mean,I could not find the dials. I also have a heater in the seat itself and this button had a light in it pluss ofcourse 3 green led when activated

Hmm, driven home by family . . . must have been a fun dinner party beforehand!
