Black Roof Rails

Question:

I Just purchased a 2017 X3 with the M-Sport package. It has the shadow line package and I just blacked out the grilles, so the only chrome left are the roof rails. I've seen the black rails you can order for ~$600 but install seems like a PITA. Are there any other solutions to blacking out the roof rails? I'm scared to even ask, but has anyone tried plasti-dip?

I know someone had them wrapped in vinyl. I think they said it was 2-300, which given the odd shape, wouldn't surprise me. I'm sure it's not as durable as the OEM ones, but like you said, it's a lot of labor to replace them.

WagonR has the best solution. The oem black doesn’t hold up, Im starting to get paint bubbles at the ends on mine
