ATC 450 VTG (Variable Torque Gearbox)
Hi all,
I have 66 000 km on clock, X3 2.0D 2011. Just now experiencing troubles with xDrive gearbox. If steering on stronger angle- like small roundabout, parking, having kicking from front axle and steering. Like Xdrive is jamming. No matter if no gas or on gas. Anybody have something like this?? Thanks. |

Could be the transfer case. I've had the "sealed for life" transfer case flushed twice in the last 12 months or so after experiencing what sounds like similar symptoms to what you have had. Hasn't cost me anything (done under warranty) and was told after the second time that it was becoming a regular maintenance item for the F25.
Tony edit : problems first occurred at around 70,000 km (~42,000 miles) |

Intrestning.
Car will go to dealer this week to determine where is problem. Have heard about many problems with first X3 E83 xDrive. Maybe something is growing up with this F25 also... |

Dealer said, VTG must be exchanged, will cost 4000 Euros. Nice Christmas surprise. Asked what has happened, was told that they cannot open and service, only exchange complete. Nice.
