My X3 accident

Went to the mall today and got in a bit of an accident with a driver that didn't yield. I had the right of way and he just plowed right into my front passenger side. Visually it looks like the suspension, fender, bumper, side skirt and door is out of shape. Won't know until the shop looks at it.

^^ looks innocent but X3 damage is say $15k. Hopefully quickly with getting everything straightened out. Insurance should be good to you.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Since the suspension is indented and there is no damage to the rim, I am assuming the frame is bended. Make sure you fix it right and drive the car on the highway before you sign off on the repaires.

Thanks for the comments and tips. Yes the wheel is bent in (looks like I have massive camber on that wheel). I will be talking to the insurance and the shop today about it.

The thing I am concerned about is that the other vehicle was a rental and the driver that hit me was not the person they had on file as the renter. This may be a tricky one.

In the US, if the driver of the rental car is not an authorized driver on the rental contract, they are not covered by the rental insurance. Your insurance company will have to go after the driver's insurance company. If the driver is not insured, then they need to go after the renter's insurance policy which is much tougher to do.

Sorry to hear. Hope insurance doesn't try to jerk around given that it's in a parking lot and not on a road ...

and some states have better uninsured motorist coverage than others

Don't BMW offer accident management in the States? If I have an accident. I just have to call the BMW accident management number and they will organize literally everything.

I hope you get your car fixed without too much hassle.

same EXACT thing happened to me actually. Had the whole front bumper replaced as well since it is one piece and the side fender along with a new wheel. That cost 7k luckily because the axle wasnt snapped or broken

Keep an eye out for damage to the steering rack, after the repair. I think you could claim it under the same claim# if you start hearing clunking .

Hey E92LNGCGY,

I just got this letter yesterday from BMW... I don't know who did the repairs on your car but it would be nice to have a certificate if/when you sell your car.

The shop that BMW recommends here in Calgary does not do a good job at all, as a matter of fact my friend's wife works there and she even said whatever you do don't bring it here. So I went to a reputable shop which incidentally works on all the BMW for the dealer that I bought it from (they are also authorized Ferrari specialist, along with many other high end brands).

I actually got the car back Tuesday afternoon and everything is perfect. Looks like straight from the factory.

I agree, just because it is a certified BMW collision center, it doesn’t guarantee they will do good work. I had my 535i in a certified BMW collision center for some minor work, it did not come out as good as I have hope. I did another repair job at a body shop a friend recommended, and the work was much better compare to certified BMW collision center.
