Just joined and just ordered an X3!
Placed an order last night for a X3 xdrive28i and am looking forward to getting her into the dealer! Picked up most of the options (premium, conveniance, M sport, Navigation, heated seats/wheel, sirius, etc) but am most excited about the M sport bits! Also, I don't know how many of you have run into this as well, but do to the disaster in Japan, current X3 orders have to have nav or the tech package, so I was sort of forced to add the navigation last minute even though I hadn't opted for it; I guess it will be nice to have though, although I wasn't excited at the time for the extra $2grand!
I currently own a '11 Porsche Cayman S and '10 Mercedes GLK350, which will be traded in for the new X3. The GLK was base w/ no options and black (murder to keep clean in FL!), so my wife and I wanted something a little different w/ more options and really liked the X3 upon driving it. We opted for Space Gray w/ the Chestnut interior, which I think will be pretty unique (brushed aluminum trim as well). This will be the wife's car, so the 28i was more than enough power and I didn't really consider the 35i (the Cayman is my "weekend warrior" ). Looking forward to learning more about this vehicle and participating on the forums! BTW, I've looked for pics on the forum of the 28i w/ the M sport package but have only seen the 35i, any 28i pics out there? |

the requirement for navigation has been discussed at length on the forum, mostly about a month ago. Lots of people forced into getting navigation or waiting.....
Other than the exhaust, I wouldn't expect the 28i with M Sport Package to look any different than a 35i with the same. Oh, and congrats! Last edited by pault; 05-19-2011 at 01:21 PM.. |

What is different between the exhaust for the M sport 28I vs 35I? The main difference I'm wanting to see the 28I Msport instead of the 35I for is the wheels since I haven't seen any real world shots of the 28i |

On the 35i the exhaust has chrome tips, the 28i does not. However, it looks like the M-Sport package might include the chrome exhaust tips on the 28i. |

I think you made the right choice pairing Chestnut interior with the aluminum trim. Somehow it doesn't seem to really work with the two wood choices.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the order! I'm sure you and your wife will both love the X3!
I have only seen one 28i with M Sport, and that was on eBay... a couple of photos that I swiped off the site (luckily in your color too):

Thanks for the warm welcome, and also for those pics! Great that it's in the space gray as well, obviously I don't have to imagine how mine will look anymore!
Here's a few pics of my Cayman S: |

How you like your Cayman??? I am deciding to also get a porsche and just bought the X3 35i m sport for my wife. I wanted the cayenne s or turbo at first but since we just bought the X3, I don't think I will be getting another SUV. I was thinking of either a Cayman S or a Panamera 4S. Too bad the Cayman doesn't have 4 wheel drive....

I LOVE my Cayman and would highly recommend it. Honestly awd is not needed with this car since it's mid engine and has near perfect weight distribution. I like the feel of the Cayman over the whole 911 line up except for maybe the Turbo S and GT3, but of course the Cayman S costs half what those do so it's a no brainer
I think the color of the X3 we have on order is going to be similar to my Cayman, so a group photo shoot will definitely be in order once the Bimmer arrives! I am really looking forward to owning 2 gray cars, keeping our current black GLK clean in FL is driving me up a wall!

There are quite a few on my Cayman forum that drive their's in the winter and seem to do fine, I'm sure a set of winter tires would go a long way The panamera and cayman are quite different though (size, styling, etc.), and I agree, I can't quite get past the look of the panamera myself either; it's pure sex from the front bumper to the rear door, then it goes bad real fast after that! Not much else drives as good as a Porsche though!
