Our X3 X Line has finally arrived at my home, after 4 months waiting . Melbourne red metallic / black interior.

The old and new car ..... and my dog Diesel

And a picture without bright sunlight. The colour gets darker than:

A look at the interior:

Fantastic. Melbourne + xLine is the best looking X3 combination IMHO. I prefer it to the Msport as it just looks more "balanced" overall but I know that's a very personal thing. Congrats and enjoy keeping it clean

Superb photos Endre

Not sure whether I like the house or car the most

Great shots really show the muscular stance of the xline particularly the two long range shots

The colour really is lovely, I like the way that it looks different in different lights.

I've not seen that interior before .. It's nice, but not available in the UK, nor is petrol power for that matter

Thanks for posting

Ps the wheels are nice ( don't mention the wheels )

I'm a bit unsure of red in general, unless it's on a Ferrari super car. I have Fire hydrant on my Hyundai Getz, and couldn't shake off the stigma off of feeling a bit embarrassed. But red looks stunning here on the X3.

Thanks for your nice comments.
yes, the house is nice too isn't it. But the Bulldog is a real sweetheart. He couldn't hurt a fly.

As for the Xenons: I am sure you are right. But I had to draw the line somewhere since the car is not financed nor leased.

Very nice, be very careful with the piano black trim, it seems to scratch if you breath on it!.

I've got about 200 miles on mine now needs a wash before a few pics this week.

Are you referring to the "black shadowline glossy trims" by the door frames outside ?
Or do you mean the interior? Inside I have the "Dark copper high gloss interior trim".

What can we do to prevent scratches, besides keeping the car in the garage ?

Strange that you cannot get a petrol engine in England. What than if you only drive 10.000 km per year ? Why would you need a diesel than? It really is a lot louder than the petrol engines. But the marketing is sometimes strange.

This interior is offered in Hungary only on the X Line models. You can also get the Nevada leathers.
The funny thing about it is, that the leather is black, but has red stitches. This looks lovely with the melbourne red paint. And also, because of the many red stitches, the black seems to look very dark brown!
My neighbour even said he liked the brown seats!

I had black piano inside my 2012 118i, and agree with Northandy's diagnosis that it scratches easily.

Both your dark copper and shadowline trim are unfortunately sensitive to scratches, but it can be managed.

- For the outside:
Don't wash the trim with a mitten unless it's been sprayed down first, the key is to not have any dust on it when wiping it, the dust particles do the scratching. That said, because it's outside it most likely will scratch over time anyway. Not a huge problem, get yourself some Meguiars PlastX plastic polish to smooth it when required.

- For the inside:
The piano trim on the inside is more noticeable when it scratches because you're constantly looking at it up close. My trick was to only wipe it down with a microfibre cloth when absolutely necessary to remove smudges. For most of the time to remove dust (again, this is what scratches it) I bought one of those extremely fine-bristled paintbrushes, which is then used to "dust" the glossy stuff. Your wife/GF's make-up brushes will also work well, haha.

Your car is looking stunning, congratulations!

You have piano black around the aircon controls etc, I have a few fine scratches already.
