Wiper Parking for Window Cleaning

OK. I'm apparently not smart enough to figure this out.

From the manual:
1) Switch off the ignition.
2) Under frosty conditions, ensure wiper blades are not frozen onto the windshield.
3) Press the wiper lever up beyond the point of resistance and hold it for approx. 3 seconds, until the wipers remain in a nearly vertical position.

I've tried every permutation of the above that I can think of - and get no response.
What's the trick?

Does "Switch off the ignition" mean NO ACCESSORIES (Do Not Press Start Button) or ACCESSORIES ON (Press Start Button Once for ACC Power)?

Does "Press the wiper lever up" mean push it UP towards the roof?

Does "beyond the point of resistance" mean to keep pushing it hard enough that you think it might break?

Surely not rocket science, but it has beaten me.

A little help here please.

There is a trick to it (at least works for me, YMMV).

After switching off the ignition, I open and close the door for a quick second, and then push the stalk past the point of resistance ("all the way up"). Works 99% of times vs. about 50.

It had me baffled when i first tried to wash the car and couldn't lift the wipers past the bonnet!!!

Press the start / stop button to engage ignition, press switch again to switch off, within a couple of seconde you now lift wiper stalk upwards (towards the roof) as far as it will go and hold until wipers move to vertical position

To put them back simply press the stop / start button and pull wiper stalk to the bottom and they should lower to normal position.

Thanks Guys for the replies.
I finally got it with a combination of these posted methods.
Step 1 - place one hand on top of head, one hand on belly, turn three times and hop backwards one step.
Step 2 - enter car, close door, press Start button to start engine.
Step 3 - press Start button again to shut off engine, and once more to shut off accessories.
Step 4 - open and immediately close driver door.
Step 5 - Lift stalk towards roof of car and chant 'Parkem' three times.
That should do it.
When finished, press Start button once to turn on accessories, and push stalk back down to park.
That's my method.
Thanks.
