I changed the brake pads and rotors on my 2016 x3 today and accidentally broke the seal on the caliper piston. Anyone encounter this issue? Do I need to replace caliper or is there another alternative?

Not sure how you broke the piston seal that it's leaking fluid.
Did you take the piston out, cause I'm not sure of any other way you could tear the seal? Anyway, if the piston and caliper cylinder wall are in perfect condition, they sell rebuild kits with new seals. Though since you're asking how to fix it, you might be better off replacing the calipers because brakes are one of the most important safety features on the vehicle, so failure is not an option. |
