Summer + Winter vs. All Season
I'm wondering about the value of having dedicated sets of wheels and tires mounted with summer and winter tires for an X3 35 with SAP. In the Midwest I'm not sure you can ever get the best out of a vehicle with any sporty pretensions if you just use All Season tires. Anyone gone with a two set route?

I have an extra set of wheels from my old X3 and plan to use them as a winter set. I will of course need new winter tires as the size is different with the F-25.
The Bridgestone Dueler’s that came on my F25 have terrible snow ratings (according to tire rack). They seem fine for my summer driving as I don’t usually push the car beyond their limits, so I’ll keep them for summer and use Blizaks for winter. I would go to the tire rack site and look up the ratings on your tires. If they are rated ok in snow and ice, don’t worry, but real snow tires make a big difference. |

I have two sets of tires for my Jag, and on winter tires in the snow I can usually drive around floundering SUV's that are on All Season tires. The X3 will be driven by my wife (sell the Jag) and I will then go back to an older 911 which will just be a weekend car, as I have no need to drive during the week. But when I drive the X3 I want it to be a fun drive so want SAP etc so it can be a real Jekyll and Hyde car.

my opinion would be 2 sets of tires.. thus I had the dealer put summers on it, I find all seasons to be an unhappy compromise for a vehicle of this nature.

+1 I will be trying to wear out my AllSeasons ASAP in order to get summers, I will be getting extra alloys and winter tires. AllSeasons are really a compromise, not a great one either IMO.
