Anyone installed "X4 35i, M Performance Klappenshalldämpfer-System?

It has been available at the BMW.de (Germany) site since about a month at EUR 2340 ($2500-3000, SEK 25.000-30.000)

According to site there should be two "exhaust endpipes adapters?". According to pictures they should be to fill out opening in rear bumper cover. And of course for a similar at RH

Klappen is valve - there are two modes - legal and illegal. Remote controlled.

Perfect!! Must have!

Questions:
-was there a template for the cut out on right hand side?
-were there included "adapters", to fill out the STD cutout?
-remote control: is it stand alone or integrated with Bluetooth in car?
-any increase in torque or bhp? Legal - illegal?
-cost for exhaust?
-cost for installation?

exilio: as you can see for yourself - jtd has not responded. Either he has not had time or he is not comfortable with your lingo. I have visited/ worked in the US, so no problem. Everybody has not.

We, anyhow, got the important INFO - we love it! Now what is left is to get the cash and wait for the Klappenshalldämpfer to reach our shores.

I just ordered the Klappenshalldämpfer.
Cost nominally SEK 28.500 - 15% discount=SEK 24.000 - EUR 2500
Installation "about" 3 hours - I got a deal on 2 hours.

Very good kit - including panels to fill out the cuts. Note: white.

Klappen (valve )control, via separate panel. Bluetooth integrated in vehicle.

Hope it will become available for the six-cyl diesels as well.

No cheat - the real thing!

I got a copy of the installation manual - they did not have any hardware.

There are two tubes on each side of the muffler - one of each has a valve. The tubes on each side are coming together before endpipe.

I.e. there is a shortcut in the muffler, when valves are operated= the real thing

Note: more probably the panels around endpipes are unpainted black, NOT white.

Note: a bit tricky installation with Bluetooth - I recommend a BMW shop.

Hi Tjalle,

There is something missing in the above videos of the Russian X4. It is not possible to compare the sound with the original exaust. If you are going to post vids of your new exhaut, may I ask you to shoot one with your original exhaust. thank you Tjalle

Sank, sorry but video is above my limit - I was earlier forced to supply pics, but thats`it. But, I will add outside listening - static and dynamic - to my evaluation.

Note: the Russian car has 370 bhp and 600 Nm - I have 306/400.

I have listened several times to the video, and I am convinced that the system -although I am happy with my car - especially after lowering - will do what I have missed so far - put a smile on my face

Hi Tjalle, no worries.

the poor lights condition in the above videos made me not notice in the first vid the original exhaust.

According to INFO from BMW De, the system is designed for X4 with PA 337, M Sport.
I have the installation manual, and covers around endpipes wll not fit, but it should be possibel to install with cutouts in rear cover, or even with some "adaption" fit the endpipe covers. Kit is very comprehensive and installation is- to my judgement - very good.

Installation with Bluetooth is integrated in vehicle - you plug in at right rear central. System will always start in legal mode after engine off.

System is on backorder in Germany. Today I bought spraycan with graphite gray metallic to paint covers around endpipes, which I presume are unpainted black plastic.

When I first asked about the system it was in stock in Germany. I ordered day after- when order got to G it was sold out.

Obviously I can`t have installation tomorrow. There might be a problem with supplier probably supplying also MB AMG with similar systems - they probably have higher priority being old customer.

My exhaust is planned to be delivered week 46 ( nov 9-13).

I have, preliminary, booked wed nov 18 for installation.

By now there should be people who got the system before it was sold out - one of my friends spotted a system - car included - on the eastcoast of Sweden a week ago.

I am interested to hear about the sound during cruising and acceleration - from inside
