Got my winter shoes on!

I've put on my winter tires/rims. Enkei Performance Ammodo wheels with Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero Series II RFT tires. I couldn't get Blizzaks in 19" RFT's. I hope the Pirellis are as good.
BRING ON THE DAMN SNOW!

They look great.
How much did the rims and tires set you back?

How's the road noise? Reasonable? Notably different?

Damn son! That looks pretty sick! I'm jealous. I want some winter tires, but I cant bring myself to justify spending that much for like 4-5 snowboarding trips. I live in So. California.

I do have my stock 18" E92 wheels. Anyone know if I can just throw some winter tires on those and slap them on my F25?

Nice looking set of winter shoes. No offense, but since I'm just south of you in DE, I hope they never see a single flake!

It seems a bit early to put those on. I bought the same tires that I will put on some 368M wheels but even in Quebec I am still waiting a couple more weeks. That kind of tire does not like the heat so I hope it is fairly cold in your neighborhood!

But by the way those rims look great. How is the ride? Quiet?

~$2200 including TPMS and the BMW caps.

I got the x3 with the staggered performance tires - P Zeros. I don't think that there is much difference.

When the weather is bad I have to go to work. When it's really bad, I have to go to work. When it's snowing 21" and all of the sane people are indoors, I have to go to work. Winter tires aren't an option for me.

Good deal, thanks, richardew.

My OEM Conti SSR's are far enough in that I'm thinking they're not gonna be very good for any bit of weather so I'm about to follow richardew's lead with the SottoZero's. I'm in NoVA so it doesn't get very cold here. Since I can't find any All Season RFT's, seems that the SottoZero's are the way to go and soon. I'm hoping I can use them for two seasons. Reasonable?

What kind of temp can they handle? Am I gonna totally blow them away if we get a late 80 degree day or two?

I change the X5 summers to all seasons, but I usually wait until mid November, so sort of agree. But the night time temps are starting to dip into the low forties in our area (mid atlantic), so there is still a rationale for having the winter compounds on.

I hear ya!! Then you've made a good decision!

I had a pair I used on my '08 335XI. It was my winter car. I put 76,000 miles it before turning it back in. I had the Blizzaks on from Oct/Nov until March. They had a lot of tread left, 1-2 years easy. The compound on the winter tires gives way better grip in cooler temperatures when it's dry out. My Y rated PZeros need the warm weather for better grip. They are brittle when it's cold out. They suck when it gets really cold out. I guess if you enjoy the thrill the occasional loss of traction gives you, year round Y rated tires are the way to go.

Very cool wheels. Love the "twisted turbine blade" look.
They look better than most BMW OEM models.

LOL
It seems like it was the PERFECT time to put them on! I just wish the other drivers had them on also. Had to make the return leg of a road trip back from Virginia. Cold driving rain for most of the trip and then snow covered highway the last 35 miles. I'll give the Sottozeros a pass.
