BMW x3 2013 very stiff steering wheel

Hi all

I have replaced the steering rack on my x3 yesterday but l feel that the steering wheel is very stiff after the replacement

Is this normal after replacing steering rack?

On my 2013 I had the same issue but in my case it was the steering wheel shaft universal joint located in the engine bay that had worn. You can see it easily with the hood open looking down on the drivers side, below the coolant tank. Not a common problem. BMW stealer part only and expensive. Labour was 2hrs I believe.
