Screeching drivers side window
I can not take this screeching any more! Had the car in when it was a couple of months old and it was making this noise. They said they replaced a worn flocking and it was quiet for a while. The noise has come back and it is louder than ever. I took it back into the shop to be fixed. They thought the screeching was being created because the "window is too clean" and also said to make sure not to use Rain X or any type of coating on the glass. I told them I don't and frankly don't believe for a minute it's because the window is too clean. I also had the anti-trap warning come on and stay lit for a week (after which it went off). So, they cleaned the window track and the rails and gave it back and said it was fixed. Soon as I left I put the window down and it is screeching just as loud as when I dropped it off. Has anyone dealt with this and found a permanent fix for it? It's embarrasing to put the window down and have to hear this plus it is like listening to nails on a chalk board.

One trip to the dealer and the shop foreman knew exactly what caused it. They replaced the outside shadow line rubber strip and the guides on the inside of the door. Had to take off the door panel ....

Yes my window is doing it also. I took it in and they said it was because my window was tinted. I asked them why none of the other windows do it. I was told it is the secondary rubber seal. Going to take it back again.

Dealer has the fix
Had the same problem on driver side window. Screeching was not constant but beyond annoying. I brought it to the dealer. They changed the rubber around the window and it worked.
I'm not a mechanic so I can't explain what they did other than I know I was not the first owner who the problem. It was done more than a year ago on my 2011 and has not returned. Good Luck!

A week ago, I brought it to the dealer. They changed the rubber around the window in both sides, mine is 2011, there are a lot of thread about this problems bmw cars, I hope the problem was fix it, but I think with the pass of time the problem return, Its a problem with the poor quality of rubber, I have had others cars with more than 10 years and never I have had this issue

Talked to my service advisor and that is what they did the first time I brought it in about a year ago. Problem is back worse than before. Really want to find a permanent fix for this and not something that works for a while and returns. Totally unacceptable for a 55k car.

My dealership ordered a new window channel seal for me today. The service advisor said that they have replaced them in five other X3's lately. Hopefully that will fix the screeching.

Let me know how it works out. Mine is scheduled to go back in June 18th for the window screeching.

Was experiencing intermittent screeching during cold weather when lowering the drivers side window (as stated by others in this thread) and it seems our local dealership had temporarily fixed it by adding more lubrication and cleaning out minor debris found between the window and the felt trim. However, since the problem kept reoccurring, this time the dealership did a more thorough inspection and ended up replacing two window rails (under warranty) and so far no more screeching.
