Scratch on leather seat
My coworker place a cardboard box on the back seat of my 2012 X3. I think the corner of the box scratched the black leather of my car seat because the scratch was definitely not there before (no one has ever sat in the back seat of my car). The scratch is about an inch to an inch and a half in length. I think it's a superficial cut but I'm afraid it will eventually cause the leather to rip.
1) Should I be concerned? 2) Does anyone know if the BMW dealership deals with seat scratches or should I just see a leather specialist? 3) Will the scratch eventually turn into a rip? 4) Am I just crazy and leave it alone? I'm trying to not let it bother me but it's kind of driving me crazy. Thanks! |

A number of years ago a coworker sat in the back of my tan leather car with a Bic pen in his back pocket. Made a huge mess... I called Metro Leather and they came out and re-dyed the damaged sections including the darker piping. Totally un detectable and lasted years (sold the car). This one looks like and easy fix

Scratch is very minor and not deep. Try using a leather cleaner and conditioner and little rubbing of shoe polish of matching color. Scratch should disappear. Leather conditioner will moist the leather and make it soft whereas shoe polish touch will take out that white looking scratch.
Try it first on a not so visible part of seat. |

In the UK a company called Gliptome colour match leather and have many BMW colours as stock for their dye kits. Check out their website. You could use the dye and a small artist brush for this. There are probably similar companies offering the same sort of products more locally too.

Hey, new here but I had an older E39 540i for which I bought some dye from Gliptome and it worked out great. Don't have the car anymore or I coud have shown you some results.
Highly recommended by me though. |

Take a look at their website and if you're still not sure. Send them the picture for advice on what to do. |

I had a similar scratch on my front seat when someone left keys in their pocket. I used black shoe dye applied carefully with a cotton bud and it completely hid the scratch. You can also use a tiny bit of black shoe polish, but you have to be very careful not to get it on the light stitching. Also to buff it clean so it doesn't rub off on clothes.
