Getting tense and thinking about a Q3 it can be here at end of September. Love the x3 but also test drove the q3 and it was pretty good as well. One more delay and I might. The dealer won't care because I am sure he could sell my speck to someone else.
Yes, I suspect you are been taken for a ride. At the time you placed your order, your dealer should have been up front with you about what delivery slots he (ie the dealer) had open for a August delivery. I suspect his quota was probably already filled and just simply put in the next bunch of orders - hence the shift to September delivery. But now that he is talking October, thats a bit rich. Talk to him and demand an explanation. It may be due to the slowdown in production over the US summer months (from another thread I saw the factory was shutdown for a week in July). The fact that I ordered our 30d mid/late May and its (apparently) arriving in the country this week for a late August delivery indicates something is amiss.

And I'm assuming the alternative "Q3" you are referring to is in fact the Q5. Don't waste your time with the Q5 2.0TDI.

Brisbane Summer Picnic?

Given we have a common sense of great taste in cars and are obvioulsy talented and fantastic people...
and Summer is only a few months away - anyone be interested in getting all these new X3 beauties together for a family picnic and photo shoot come November?

(With luck I might have mine by then )

If there is enough interest I might have a word with our good mate Martin Roller to see if he wants to sponsor some snags and drinks for us all...

Hi, I'm in exactly the same boat.... ordered first week of May and from a July build have gone to an August build with delivery maybe going into October. At least you got a letter though, my updates took me about 5 emails and phonecalls each . Thinking of which; I might give it a go again tomorrow, see what the status is. I hope we are not being taken for a ride.

Mardoq

Ps. Assume you mean Q5 by the way.

Hi Everyone,

Thankyou so much for your replies.

My salesman (BMW Melbourne) has gone on leave for a month. I really think he just bul$hitted me and I should of asked around a bit more.

What are you going to do? Car salesman are right up there with Lawyers, Realestate agents and bank managers in the gene pool of jobs that you can do. You know you are going to get ripped off and there's nothing that you can do. With the Aussie dollar worth 17% more than when they announced the prices for the X3 the price hasn't chnaged. Someone, somewhere is making alot of money from a very popular car.
They saw me coming a mile off. Funny thing was I went out to buy a reame of printer paper and ended up with a X3 (It's a long story...). Serves me right.

I'll just put up with it. What choice do I have?

PS: Yes I meant Q5.

I've noticed the growing trend of delayed production across many car manufacturers at present.... perhaps a demo purchase would be the best bet to get into something before Christmas...

My dealer pointed out that with the limited supply of the 30d they are not going to sell their demo as they cant get a replacement car. At least they are popular. It's nice to be wanted.

Did you buy it sight unseen? I wanted to wait until i had driven one.
Mind you.
It only took one quick blast around Mt Coot-tha and some dirt work acros a rough hill to sell me on it.

By waiting for a test drive I think the bow wave had time to get established... Now I just have to ride it out.

Ordered april, delivered July.

You're being taken for a ride by a dealer who doesn't want to reveal his/her build slots shortage. The Q5 is a great ride, but not worth the higher premium over the X3.

With the waiting list - you could probably make a few K, not discount.

Not waiting for the M? Or that's a trial before the new M gets down under?

If you hope a 35D would be a lot quicker than a 30D then I doubt you'd be satisfied unless you had the 35D re-mapped. I have not driven a 35D but I expect it won't be that much faster, 2 or 3 passengers the a 35D might give 30D performance. The twin-scroll turbo in the 35D should broaden the power band but as diesels are mostly about torque the change from 560Nm to 630Nm, whilst useful isn't a huge difference (12.5%). The 8 speed box will also nullify some of the broader power band advantage of the 35D. These are only my thoughts on the differences....a real-life road test is needed.

I just understood what you meant. The X3M! That is at least a year away. In fact, the chances of me getting a X3M would be much higher if I get out of a X3 before the X3M comes.
