Sun Protection Glass
Hi All,
I ordered my BMW and forgot to add sun protection glass... doh! Only realised when I received it, as in my head I thought I ordered it! Any ideas on retrofiting? Can I ask a dealer to do it (one I called said no... which I struggle to believe as surely its just glass). Any suggestions on good tint places in London that don't ruin your windows or cause bubbles? Cheers |

Yes no problem. I did the same with my previous car. I just forgot. It was a 2012 F31 320d Sport and I had it retrofitted with a local company.
I see you are in London. If in west London then you are in luck with probably one of the best local ones called.. Pentagon Reading. http://www.tintyourglass.co.uk/ http://www.tintyourglass.co.uk/tinted_auto_glass.htm http://www.tintyourglass.co.uk/gallery.htm The BMW dealer took the car to them and collected it before the handover to me. Surprisingly you are now in a better position because you can now have a slightly different tint than the basic OEM tint from BMW. If you deal directly with the company (not the local BMW) you can get a discount. Last edited by Peter_R; 09-17-2015 at 11:41 AM.. Reason: Typing error |

You will definitely be able to get an excellent tint done at the right place. My friend recently had his LR discovery done and I must say, it is very professional and looks OEM quality. You'd never know it was retrofit.
Personally, I wouldn't bother going through BMW. Find a good independent - they're much better value. Sorry that I can't suggest anywhere or be of much help but be assured you have lost nothing by forgetting to spec the SPG. |

thanks for the replies, and I'm encouraged to hear about Pentagon.
I heard some bad reviews about their Hainault Branch in london but its good to know BMW used the one in reading to do yours. Given we are now in Winter, I may well look to pause until next spring as the sun shouldnt be too bad. |

I had ceramic tint applied to both our cars. Very happy with them. The ceramic tint does cut down on IR heat a lot - noticeable when I move my hand in front, then behind the glass under the sun.

For clarification.... I did not do it through BMW.
I told them (BMW) that Pentagon Reading were doing the job that I previously arranged and they took the car to Pentagon and collected on completion. I paid the tint invoice directly to Pentagon because I had already been quoted a special offer. Last edited by Peter_R; 09-17-2015 at 06:14 PM.. |
