Importance of DHP

Can someone please explain benefit/advantage of DHP?
Does it completely transforms the car?

I ticked every performance related box on my 2014 X4:
-M Sport: sport suspension, variable steering
-sport auto
-dynamic damper control
-20" wheels

There was not available:
-DHP
-ARS
-torque vectoring

I was slightly disappointed because the vehicle was not as good as my 1997 9000 AERO with 18" wheels re. :
-sidewind sensitivity
-steering precision
-steer - in - a - curve.

For looks, I lowered my vehicle (H&R, 35 mm), which transformed it:
-almost as good in sidewinds as 9000
-slightly better steering precision and steer - in - a - curve.

All X3 have the driving mode selector. Without DHP it primarily affects the transmission and throttle response. What DHP does is add variable dampers (shocks) and steering to the toolkit. Comfort is more comfortable and sport is sportier. I spend most of my time (commuting) in comfort. But when I go out to drive for pleasure the sport mode is on and worth every penny. I also feel that in comfort mode the dynamic dampers are better at handling rough roads.

I have DHP-equipped X3, and live in Sport Mode most of the time. Occasionally I move up to Sport+. If I'm in Normal/Comfort mode then it generally means that there is someone else in my X3, and I've chosen to give them a more "floaty" than stiffer ride.

A few months back I had a series of non-DHP 528i loaners and rentals. The word that comes to mind when I think of how they handled in corners and on twisty roads was "wallow".

With DHP and a Sport transmission (i think that's part of MSport now) you change a lot more than the suspension when you change to Sport or Sport+ mode. You're also adjusting the percentage directed to the rear wheels, shift points, and throttle mapping.

I agree with: dampers, gearshifting, throttle and steering, but I don`t think X3/X4 has DHP/ARS/torque vectoring.

Still - after lowering - I am happy

I forgot: of course, after lowering, ride is somewhat harsh- especially with 20" and RFT:s. Fortunately we have good roads where I live.
