Best Winter Wheels for 2012 M-sport/369M?

I am ordering a 2012 w/the M-sport package, which includes the 369M 19" double-spoke wheels w/runflats that apparently suck in the winter.

Do you guys buy a second set of the same wheels (cost?) or something easier to clean? Are there stagger limitations?

Who makes the best winter times for snow and ice for this vehicle in your opinion? Should we move back to 18"

Assuming I am only interested in OEM options.

Regards, Mark

Hi,

Looked long and hard for EOM wheels at a decent price. Didnt come up with anything. I went after market. At any rate. I did a lot of research on snow tires. From what I found the Blizzak LM 60 is the best performing SNOW and ICE tire. However, while it is in the OEM 19 size meaning it will fit the 369's they are not RTF. I was totally ok with that... I know that I have given up some dry performance but where I live there are hills and lots of winter weather. I wanted to be unstoppable! I think that was the best bet.

I got the whole setup pictured from TR for about 2100. Totally happy and now just waiting for snow...

Nice photos and thanks for the reply.

I'm trying to decide if I will purchase a set of 19" 369M's -- to match the ones coming on my 2012 - from someone's new vehicle or get a set of OEM 18"s.

I'm still debating the merits of various tires...wheels first.

Regards, -mark

I have the 19" 369s as well. I have obtained a set of 4 OEM BMW #308 18" wheels from the dealer as "takeoffs" from another new X3. I am buying the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D winter tires for them. I would not go with another set of 19" 369s as it is better to drop to 18" or less in order to get a narrower tire for winter. There is lots of chat about this in several other threads on here.

I have LM60s (on another AWD car) and their snow/ice performance is unreal. Above 70mph they get squirrely, and they accelerate like a heavy tire, but yeah they make you feel unstoppable in harsh winter conditions.

utcadman, since they're not RFT what's your plan in case you flat? I am considering this setup too.

Interesting commne t above 70. One of the reasons I got them what for the higher speed rating over the WS60.

At any rate I just have a pump and a patch kit. Oh ya and luck that nothing will ever happen...
