Anyone get that feeling that they've rehired Chris Bangle?

Small incremental changes mean they have to do a side by side video to show it is actually a new model!

Enough of a design difference on the Gen 3 to make it look broader and more attractive without turning last years Gen 2 vehicle into a pile of obsolete metal. Common approach for manufactures of premium priced automobiles. Drastic design changes, while welcome by some can also be a tough sell to brand loyalists.

Last gen still had a nicer front end and a proper Hofmeister kink compared to the current gen. New gen has a more pleasing rear end and tail lights.

I still cannot un-see the horrible "Beaver's teeth" kidney grilles on the new X3. Yuck.

Agreed and I find this very disappointing. It was the same thing in the transition from F01 to G12 and from F10 to G30. At least it keeps my 7 year old X3 looking current for the next 7 years at which point I plan to purchase the X3 that comes after the G01, hopefully that car will look different. I long for the days when E34 to E39 to E60 to F10 were all dramatic changes.

Those black lines running from the air intakes to the bottom of the bumper kill the entire front end. What is the point?

In the midst of all those camouflaged spy shots and videos that were out early this year there was this early spy photo from a German site that I was hoping the 2018 X-Line was going to look like. Then I saw all those embellishments (painted/processed/plated plastic I believe) that made it to the final released product (not featured in above video) I was pretty disappointed but saw the m-sport line as an alternative. They made the m-sport in the end really just a few dollars more in the summaries when similarly equipped.

Here it is which my title at the time "2018_BMW_x3_we-hope"

I really liked my second generation X3 and I like the new X3 so far. The G01 has a much better interior and more tech that appeals to me. For some reason my favorite three BMWs are the E30 M3, the E39 5er and the E83 X3. I think the back window glass in the G01 reminds me of the E83.

Uh…..huh? Here, let me help you out with that…….. It does have a more off-roady sort of look though.

I know the G01 will look dated some day. When I look back at photos of my 93 525i I am in utter disbelief from my memories of that time.

I think the point is don't buy it in white! Silver maybe but in the darker colors the brash goes away. Somehow though this in white (or silver) is killer in a M40i when you have a bit more Cerium & chrome, along with the 355hp motronics to back it up.

Funny thing I noticed about the grill when I went to test drive one. As gigantic as they are, they're "closed off". Maybe for better aero dynamics? :

Regardless, its probably the best interior BMW has designed. As much as I'm not crazy about the front end, its an SUV(SAV). Not like I'd drive one to turn heads.

Somebody once told me the 1st gen x3 looked like a Toyota highlander. Now that's all I see...

Correct, per the video above.., the grill slats in the Gen 3 model are opened and closed depending on vehicle speed and they assist with keeping the Coefficient of drag to a very low 0.29.. . something that most M cars cannot even dream of...

As long as you are not in Australia. The dynamic grille is not available to the Australian market. You win some you lose some when it comes to configurations across diff markets.
