CPO 991.1 C2S. Just picked up a 2013 40% off the MSRP, was loaded up with $30k in options. Paid $77k with 2 year warranty, brand new tires and brakes. You could afford a new one with less miles, mine had 26k. Maybe a Carrera GTS.
Traded in a '12 Cayman S for it. The 911 is much more car in every respect, nicer interior (mine has full leather), way faster and more planted.

I agree on going CPO if you want to move to a 991. I think you'll find the 991 to exhibit many of the driving dynamic characteristics of the 981. I just recently picked up a CPO 4GTS and was surprised by this. Even though the 911 is rear-engined, it feels very similar (to me) in many ways. The 981 is a very rear biased mid engine; and the 991 has evolved into a more mid biased rear engine, if that makes sense. Thus, they are now closer in placement than 911s of previous gens.

Ya CPO 991 is the way to go. Should drive very similar to your 981, with just a bit more power. Should be a better DD since 911 is somewhat more comfortable compared to the Boxster in everyday driving.

In spots where the rear would slip a little with my Cayman S, the 991 just puts the power down.

Loaded Ghibli SQ4?
Gran Turisomo? Super old car though, interior feels circa 2004.
Vantage V8?

The 991 Porsche is probably the best car for the price but it may be boring to get another Porsche. Interior is nearly the same on the two cars.

Didn't OP say he wanted a manual? I bet Lexus dealership are parting with RC's because LC is coming out.

For manual, these come to mind:

Cayman GT4
Mustang 350GT
Challenger Hellcat

Are you looking at used market or brand new?

Save the money until there is something that you really want. I was in a similar situation years ago where I had the itch and ended up buying something that wasn't exactly what I wanted because nothing else better was on the market. A waste of money. In hindsight I should have kept what I had until the next really desirable car came out.

I would say GT4, ACR, or like you mentioned - 991S. I will say after driving the 997.2S and then right after the 991S - the 991S is such an incredible car.

Personally I would do the ACR but I am a completely irrational person who would drive full track cars on the street!
