What rims fit?

I am looking to put winters on my 2012 X3 x28i, my all seasons are 245/50/18s. Since I don't want to spend too much money I am looking for used BMW rims. Can I purchase used BMW rims for BMW 7 or 5 series?

Do I have to worry about the TPMS sensors?

For example, I see a BMW 5 set with 5 X 120 Bolt Pattern, 120mm Medium Offset..does that work? with 245/45/18s Winter Tires.

To my knowledge, there are no X3s in Canada that have the metal valve stems and the transmitters.

Most 3 series rims should fit, I do know +35 offset fits on 8.5" wide wheels perfectly.

Thanks. Do you know if 35mm offset on a 5 series 18/8.5 rims work ok with the F25? I don't really understand this stuff well enough to make an informed decision. I am guessing since we have a 45mm offset the tire and rim of a 5 series will be inside the wheel well more.

Other way around actually, 35 will stick out 10mm more than 45. You can go to the wheel and tire forums here under the 3 series and on top of your screen you will see a fitment calculator where you can get an idea of how different parameters affect fitment.

Basically you need a wheel that is big enough to clear the calipers, so pretty much all 18" wheels and many 17" but not all. You need a wheel with a 72.56 center bore and a 5x120 bolt pattern, offset anywhere between ET35 to ET43 I believe and width of 8 to 8.5".

Also keep in mind if you get an 8.5" wide wheel with a 43 offset it might possibly not fit and rub the inner front strut, since my ET35 8.5" wheels are about a finger thickness between the tire wall and strut body. Whereas a stock 18x8" et43 wheel fits no problem. This is prob why the stock 19x8.5" wheels are et38 not et43.

This is what the BMW dealer quoted me... 17 - 7.5 inch rim with 32 offset.
I would have never guessed this fit my car since I though I had a 45 mm offset.

lower the offset is the more aggressive setup is

offset of of 35 front n 33 in rear is more aggressive then fronts 40 and rear 45 just an example

i had m6 reps on my e90 19x8.5 with 35 offset in front
rears were 19x9.5 with 33 offset.. i love the setup..

i would like to see how this setup would look on f25

Hi, I believe this is the thread for my question.

Just signed in the forum, as on the italian forum (by the way please forgive my far-to-be-perfect english!) seems no one is really sure of the answer.

I'll be trading in a E91 3 series for an X3 F25. On my E91 I'm leaving the 16 rims and I will remain with a spare 17x8 (Style multi spoke 284) set.

The new F25 comes with 18 inches rims and I would like to use the "spare" 17x8 (ET 34) for the winter tires.

Is it feasible? I saw that tires come with a "load index" indicating the max load that each tire will support. Is it the same for rims? Will I be risking something putting E90/91 rims on a heavier X3? I wasn't able to find any indication about this and neither to find any further specification over the size and "run flat" characteristics of the BMW 284 Style.

Any advice?

Ciao from Italy ;-)

We just installed MSW Type 22 wheels, in 17x7.5" size, on my Dad's 2011 X3. These paired with Bridgestone in 225/60-17 and TPMS from Tire Rack. These look great, ride great, and are a fantastic choice. His X3 has the Sport Activity Package with the 18's and his winter setup actually looks very similar.

Thank you guys.

lotus7, you talk about temporary 'spare' tire... You mean you don't consider the option of having the e90 rims with 225/60 tires as 'permanent' winter set? (provided there's no interference with the calipers)

Ciao, again
