Could the 35i X3 be TOO fast?
Ok so I'm driving "to the lake" memorial day weekend in my new 35i and one thing I'm noticing on those two lane highways is how effortlessly this car drives fast - stable & fast! So effortlessly powerful that I'll be passing, hitting 90+ mph, and hardly notice. The 35i feels natural, comfortable and quiet, at speeds my prior cars - even Audi's - would have made feel more of an extreme adventure. I mean the car could cruise the interstate at 100 mph for a couple of hours no big deal. This worries me a little. Or at least I'll have to get used to a car that feels likes it's barely moving at 60 mph.

I agree that the 35i moves very quickly (aided and abetted by my right foot); HOWEVER I see zero cause for concern with that. What a strange overly-PC world we have created...!!!
If the OP is worried, just set your speed limit indicator in iDrive and let the "bong" drive you crazy. I have had to up my limit twice now.....

Don't worry, you'll get used to it and will think it may even be underpowered in a few months. I know I felt the way you did when I first got my 135 but it didn't take long to wonder what a performance upgrade would feel like.

Extremely fast - I have compared it to a 335i with a little more size and height; ours handles very sporty, probably due to the 19" staggered wheels but the ride is still excellent. the X3 35i is rated by BMW at 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds, which tells me in reality it is 5.3 or better in real life. it really is the best little kid hauler and grocery getter around if you still want a sports car but are practical too due to real life

You'll eventually grow out of it after you get more familiar with the car. Which mode you drive in, normal, sport, sport+ makes a huge difference in the way the car handles, normal is sluggish, sport (chassis & drivetrain enabled) and sport+ are rockets.

"Until you can spin the wheels in high gear, you don't have enough power"
--Mark Neary Donohue (1937-1975) The above comment was to directed Porsche Engineers when Mark was asked to drive a Porsche 917 that the Engineers had proudly pushed to 1100 HP. Mark complained it was too slow and when the car was finally developed into the 917-30 at 1500HP, he deemed it "adequate". |

I thought I was the only person who did this. Hard to tell how fast the car is going. Stopgap until I can get a radar detector. Any ideas?

Settings
We (best half and I) have agreed on a ccompromise setting - sport with chasis only - Economical with BMW handling. We have a 3.5 with the adjustable suspension and find it handles like our 335 in the configuration above.
