intro and order placed

First off, I would like to thank all of you for posting your various experiences leading up to deciding on which configurations to get, as well as what to expect in the negotiation process. I have learned a lot lurking around and reading many of your posts.

I live in Laval, QC, Canada, and just placed my order for an X3 yesterday with BMW Laval:

- X3 35i M Sport
- space grey / red brown nevada / brushed aluminum trim
- dynamic comfort
- technology
- executive
- premium
- apps
- black roof rails (included in M Sport package)

Won't quite be as sporty as my Cooper S, but I needed a bit more space.

I've been told to expect delivery mid June since they had one X3 allotted to them for May production.

I also ordered a 35i m sport with red brown leather and aluminum trim. However mine is in Carbon Black Metallic and will have aluminum roof rails. I am picking mine up end of May. Can't wait to see your pictures once you get the car =D

Congrats, shaderman, on your 35i order. Now the agony of waiting begins...

Good choices on your order, should be great.

Congrats, the black roof rails should look awesome! I wish BMW would offer the metallic black with all blacked out trim including wheels, roof rails and grill.

Post pictures when you take delivery.

Congrats. Can you share your final price, all in? very difficult to negociate in montreal area for may-june delivery as there are none available.

ordered mine from southshore.

My current vehicle is a lease which doesn't expire until September. I also had a fair amount of excess mileage on it. The first part of my deal included them buying out the remainder of my lease and "forgiving" the excess mileage.

For the X3, I got 3% off.

My dealer explained that excess mileage charges on leases are actually due to BMW FS, not the dealership itself, so he actually has to pay them. His claim was that the reason he's able to do it is that he can be creative with excess mileage and use his promotional budget to cover it. They are also required to pay one of the lease payments on my car, while BMW FS "covers" the rest (obviously a moot point since they will be auctioning the car anyway).

So, the 3% on the X3 is about $2K, while the other factors are also about $2K (although admittedly a soft $2K).

So my X3 came in a few weeks early

I was even happier because I had been to the xDrive event here in Montreal, and it seems it was different than what was done in the States. Here we had X1, X3, X5 and 328xi, and got to drive the X3 and X5 on the "off-road" course, and the X1 and 328xi on the performance track. It wasn't run by a dealership, but instead by the guys who do the driver training, and I must say it was a lot of fun.

The added bonus was that the coupon they gave us at the end wasn't for $500 off accessories, but we had 3 choices, one of which was wear and tear insurance. I took that since I was going to anyway, and at $899 + tax, this saved me $1000! Quite glad I went. I was expecting a boring presentation with wine and cheese or something like that; couldn't have been further from the truth.

I ended up changing my color from space grey to black sapphire, and I couldn't be happier with the way it came out.

I'll post pictures sometime soon.

Congrats, looking forward to those pics. I'd be especially interested in quality interior shots of the red/brown and aluminum. That leather color seems to be difficult to capture well on a camera.
