Possible Electrical Issues

Hello everyone, new to the X3 section of this forum. Picked up a CPO 2011 x3 xdrive35i and love it.

There is something that I have noticed and makes me a bit nervous despite being under warranty. I have had the car for a month now and on two occassions the steering wheel controls have completely stopped working. Cruise control on the left and phone/voice commands/spin wheel etc... on the right.

On another occasion, my navigation showed up as a red screen and then after I shut the car off and back on, it showed up as a blank screen.

Has anyone had issues like this before? Also, I took videos of both incidents and I am going to show it to the dealership that I go to for service. What type of solution should I expect from this situation.

Sounds like hardware or software issues. Unless the dealer can reproduce the problem, it will be hard for them to troubleshoot.

as those things occur take a pic or record it if it happens again. i had loud rattle on cold start up on 2015 x3. Its only been 5 months of having it, took it to the service center. The service adviser was telling me it was normal and that other models has same noise. I told him i dont think 50k car sounds like metal cans. So i record it and took it back, the issue was missing bolts around the exhaust smh

Ok, so a video should be sufficient evidence that there is a problem. I'll keep everyone updated with how it turns out.

Here is a red screen of death. Happened to me once. I think they reset the nav and that was it. Never happened again.

Sounds like a Bus issue with the steering control/nav/cruise/etc. Not sure if it is the I-bus or canbus system . Either way I will assume that they are all tied to the same unit. They are having a problem communicating and most likely are shutting down due to a short or error. Could be a software issue or maybe a loose connection at any unit it is tied to if they have the architecture of the wiring in series . I hope you get it resolved. Best of luck.
