Did you know that...

... we in Europe have to wait much longer for the "beauty" compared to you in the US and Canada? To give you an example I ordered the X3 in February 2nd and hopefully will get ir during the 38th Week ( 19to 24th September): that's about 7 Months.
You guys are very lucky! Anyone ready to help me and give up the car for me?

Wow! You must have some patience. My X3 went from order to pickup in 2 weeks and I couldn't take it.

There was an interview in our local papers on the weekend with BMW Australia promising to renogotiate the allocation of X3 for us.
The spokesman said they had underestimated the AUstralian demand for the new X3, and had not placed enough forward orders to keep our market satisfied. (We have about a 4-5 month wait on the 30d)

I imagine the forward planning of the local BMW admin office all the markets with long delays is to blame.

The US does not seem to have any difficulty with supply. It must just be that the foreign markets have not ordered enough of their special configurations on the production schedule.

No, not true, not for China at least. At least 5mths wait is the norm in Asia, with 3 mths being fastest for custom orders (not the X3). The same goes for the Audi Q5 despite the fact that it went for sale 2 yrs ago (6mths wait).

Wow, sure don't understand why the long delays. When I purchased mind the dealer had 5 in stock, that was back in Feb., and over the weekend when I stopped at the dearler for a car wash I saw several in the lot.

Sorry others are having to wait so long!

I placed my order on 31st December 2010. Delivery date has been change several times. Now looking at October. I love reading this X3 forum, but can't help feel disheartened when I've read a thread from the US. 4 week delivery times, better standard spec and large petrol engines that they can afford to run. On top of that they include photo's of their prize Beamer in the glorious sunshine which is something we haven't seen in the UK this summer! Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge our American friends any of these advantages, I just hope the 10 month wait is worth it, and if it's not I'm off to Florida for 3 weeks in November so at least I'll get to see the sun!

That seems an excessive wait, were you given any reason for it? I ordered mine on 19th of February and have just been told that I should have it by the end of this week.

Actually not. I've asked why in the US the deliveries iare so much quicker but the answer of BMW, Munich was that Americans have a different purchase filosofy...; obviously folks speaking a germanic language are more patient or stupid... got it?

I am in Texas and received mine in 4 weeks (ordered early April and received early May). However, I would wait 6 months if I could buy the diesel version - you bastards hog all of the diesels and the darn things are made here in the USA.

We haven't got a choice here in Europe. To fill the X3 67 litre / 17.7 gal tank with unleaded would be roughly $150. We'd all be bankrupt if we drove the unleaded engines over here.

But Vintage - if you went for the diesel then you wouldn't be able to swap engine parts on the two cars.

With my garage being similar to yours - my biggest fear is the trouble and strife putting petrol into the diesel and buggering up the new engine.

(Note we cannot get the X3 35i here - only the 30d if we want a performance car option in the X3)

I too have worried about screwing up my gas/diesel purchase with the X5 35d. If it ever happens it will be the morning after a late night with my buddies while my brain is still shrouded in a heavy fog.
