Impressive MPG on my fully broken in 35i. I've been getting 28-29 mpg doing 75 mph freeway driving or rural two lane highways with occasional passing but virtually no stops.

Getting average of 8.6L/100KM from my MSport 30D.
Not sure how that coverts to MPG. Lowest I have it down to is 6.8L doing a country run. |

I have just turned 4000 kms on my 35i. On a recent trip over 3 days of 1063 kms, average 9.5L/100 which is 29.73 MPG Imp or 24.76 MPG US gals. Lots of hiway speeds in the 120 to 140 km/h range with passing. I am good with that.

The one short country run I have had, we averaged 6.7 l/100km. Given that these figures can only improve as the engine loosens up, I'm pretty impressed. I have a longer run down to Newcastle and back (round trip with side trips should be about 2,000 kms) planned for a couple of weeks which I'm looking forward to. Tony |

MY first 400 km I am averaging 9.9L/100km. 70 % city. I do drive more in sport mode and do use the paddle often just to vary the rpm. Don't speed much, lot of cops around this weekend.

Since delivery, 21.2 MPG, including all of that idling time while my CA explained how much less he knew about my X3 than I did. I kept freaking him out by using the My BMW iPhone app from the UK to beep the horn. I think that he was sure that the X3 was haunted or something, and that I was going to refuse delivery, LOL. One day I'll tell him...
My last mostly highway trip was 23.2 MPG, including 25% city. I now have 1100 miles on my X3. In 19 days I have a 400 mile road trip that will include a lot of mountain driving. I'm looking forward to checking the mileage on that one, and to the mountain break-in miles. |

I did a 500 mile trip this past weekend (met my parents in Fargo from Minneapolis), on the way out there in my Xterra (which I know is not frugal on fuel) I got about 18L/100km. I was appalled. One of the many reasons I'm trading it in on an X3 35i soon. Only thing I will say is that it was windy on the way out and the Xterra has the aerodynamics of a house. Hearing city driving aroun 13.5L/100km is making me very excited. Mixed city and why driving in the Xterra would usually be somewhere in the neighbourhood of 17-18L/100km.

We drove from Morrisville VT home to NJ on Sunday - 29.0 mpg with the 28i. The trip included very few stops, and about 40 miles at 58 mph over rolling hills and a couple of hundred miles on Interstates with the cruise control set at 72 or 73. I didn't run the compressor for the first third of the trip. Tire pressure set to 35 psi. Car has over 5000 miles on it. I was being a little easier than normal on the throttle.
Just about every time I hit the gas a little to pass a slower car, I lost 0.1 mpg. I was getting over 30 mpg at a steady 58 mph on rolling terrain. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this economy.

Actually at 3000 km (1800 mi) I am way past break in. Time to get it up to 5000+ rpm. Still have some loosening up to do IMO and gas mileage should still improve.
I am driving the car too gently as I am getting ~25 mpg. |

11.4L/100KM average, it's gone down to about 11L in august while I was on vacation (more highway). I'm almost at 8000KMs on the odo now.
I used to get 20L+/100KM with my Rainier during winter... extra I'm paying per month averages out the fuel I save! Very impressed with how little this beast gulps gas. |
