Is Variable Damper Control worth £970 on UK Road?

Answers please, I've already selected many options on my new X3 but don't know whether this is really worth another grand.

I didn't take it. All the reviews mentions it as a "must have" but without comparison, and most people who have it reports that in the "normal" mode it's a bit gooey.
Perhaps I don't know what I miss, but I certainly have no problem with the ride with the X3 as it is...

thats what I'd heard, when I tried the msport 2.0d the ride seemed reasonably smooth. Im currently driving a 520 msport which is still quite smooth - my 118d msport before that was as youd expect very hard. Thanks

I think so, I love having the option of changing the firmness of the suspension. It was the best option I chose....and I chose a few !

One of the few options worth the money and one of the few worth having

Absolutely. Test drive both on the same day. I could feel the difference with the adaptive suspension

If "UK roads" means bad, uneven bumpy roads then I guess it is similar to the conditions in Norway. All that salt and gravel, plus studded tires ruin the road just in a few years.

Subjective topic, I personally would feel something is missing without it.

It is noticeable with the different modes, throttle response, suspension, and I believe the steering too (if I'm not wrong). I also like the "Eco Pro", instrument cluster will show you how many km you have "earned" by driving in this mode ... comparing to what I don't really know. It's like a video game, I try to break the record each morning from my daily commute to work.

In addition, I'm running 19" 369 M runflat for summer and 19" 309 non-runflat for winter, nice to know that you have the option to driving a bit softer or harder base on your mood that day.

The sport gauges display on the Nav screen in sport modes are cool too.

Hope that helps.

What are the Sport Guages that display on the Navi screen? I've never heard anything mentioned about that.
