northern Chicago suburbs, heavy traffic (almost city like)
2012 35i 20.5 mpg over 32,000 miles seems odd that the new X5 with the same engine claims to get better gas mileage than the X3, how does that work? |

it could be because it has revised parts, different fuel mappings, ect... but did you check what your EPA MPG was when you bought it..? i bet it was different than what you have been getting so far... EPA ratings are over hyped IMO

2013 xDrive35i: 14L/100km (winter mostly city driving). I can get as low as 7L/100km on highway driving around 100kph.

Southern New Hampshire. Highway & suburban 50/50 - 21.5 MPG mostly in Sport mode. It's quite hilly where I live and the winter is just coming to an end. It should go up a little bit.

wow, I wish the diesels were available in the US when I bought mine. Its about the same price as premium gas here (93 octane) and double the mileage.

2.0d Msport auto
Less than 2 weeks old so still running it in - average 46mpg, have managed to get 50.5mpg on one outing which is 0.1mpg better than BMW's official figures Alot depends on driving style such as coasting to red lights etc rather than having to brake at the last minute, coming off the accelerator when going downhill etc

MPG Figures
Our 2013 F25 X3 2.0D M Sport Auto has just covered 14,000 mls and is constant at around 40 - 40.8 mpg. It doesn't seem to make much difference whether Comfort or Sport is selected, although I have to admit we only usually select Sport and also move the gear lever across to +/- when wanting to do a quick overtake or get away from standing still a bit quick, when the response is really sharp .
In the Eco mode it shows what appears to be how many extra miles you will get from your fuel on your journey by using Eco mode, but you do notably lose some performance and response so therefore I don't really see the point of using it - after all its a drivers car . Most are daily 30 mile round journeys on open A roads with steady traffic flows plus weekends and occasional longer journeys. Our previous X1 23D XDrive auto only ever just about reached 35 mpg if we were lucky on exactly the same journeys. |

Lowest iDrive consumption was from a roadtrip that was 850 km and iDrive showed 4,7 l / 100km. That is in US 50.05MPG and Imperial 60.10 MPG |
